What is the voucher?

So, you’ve heard about this “trading online voucher” but aren’t sure exactly what it is yet. This short post will fill you in on everything you need to know. The voucher is a government incentive through LEO (Local Enterprise Office) to get businesses to bring their businesses online. It covers a variety of services including website design, digital marketing, social media marketing and SEO (search engine optimisation).

Who Can Apply?

Irish businesses with the following credentials can apply for the voucher:

• Little or no e-commerce element to the business at present.
• The business is made up of 10 employees or less.
• The annual turnover of the business is less than €2,000,000.
• Business must be already trading for at least 6 months.
• The business must be located within the LEO jurisdiction. (Businesses outside this jurisdiction may be able to apply through the Údarás). Click here to find your local office and contact them to see if you’re located within their jurisdiction.

How much can you get?

LEO will cover 50% of the total cost of the project up to a maximum pay-out of €2,500. For example, if your website costs a total of €3,500, LEO will pay €1,750 and you will only have to pay €1,750. They also include training and advice to help your business succeed online.

Important things to note

You can apply for a voucher for another project even if you’ve already received a voucher for a previous project. Also, keep in mind that you need to get approval for the voucher before incurring any expense for the project.
